About Carmen
I have recently resumed private practice after 12 years working for juvenile justice reform in our state system. I am an associate at Wagoner Law Firm in Little Rock, AR. I was born and raised in south Arkansas (Fordyce and Bearden), other than a brief stint in Yankee territory (Philadelphia, PA) during high school. After law school, I clerked for a federal judge in Kansas City, MO, then returned to my home state to represent indigent clients for Legal Aid in Helena and West Memphis.
Arkansas is my home, and I love its people. We have a serious issue here, though, with ordinary working folks being unable to access legal representation. The great social justice attorney W. Haywood Burns once said, when he was asked if there are too many lawyers in the world, "The problem is not overproduction, but distribution. Where they are and whose interests they serve."
I want to serve the interests of real people -- the ones who don't have $10,000 sitting in the bank to hand over to a lawyer. I am a dedicated and skilled attorney. If I take your case, I will listen to you first and foremost, and together we will figure out how to get you through what is likely one of the most challenging times of your life.
Attorneys aren't just for handling lawsuits or criminal charges. Let me be your case manager, your advocate in school, work, and medical settings. Let me help you prepare for a new baby, or the death of a beloved grandparent. I can help you navigate government bureaucracy, stand up to corporate bullies, imagine best and worst case scenarios, and get the outcome you deserve at a price you can afford.
