Although I advise clients in general, family and patent-related matters. I specialize in preparing and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications. However, his practice also includes rendering opinions on patentability, validity and infringement issues; representing clients in licensing, litigation, Federal Circuit appeals, and reexamination and reissue proceedings.

Previously, Mr. McLauchlan served in house as General Counsel at Lumenergi, Chief Patent Counsel at ATMI, Advanced Technology Materials, a semiconductor and life sciences company.

Mr. McLauchlan is experienced in intellectual property litigation including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, and trade secret misappropriation. Past efforts have included successfully managing patent litigation, identifying devices and methods that infringe the claims of one or more patents, negotiating license agreements to settle infringement disputes, and negotiating joint development agreements.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. McLauchlan spent eight years as a nuclear engineer and submarine officer in the United States Navy, after which he worked for three years as an engineer in Motorola’s semiconductor division.
