About Shawn

Shawn is the owner and founder of the Equity in Law Group. He has been a licensed attorney and member of the Washington State Bar Association since 2017. He realized his passion for law while working as a youth corrections officer, where he saw first-hand the need for quality and competent legal services for EVERYONE.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Shawn received his bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) as a Louisiana TOPS Scholar. He entered the workplace for several years before attending law school at Western Michigan - Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he received his Juris Doctorate. While in law school, Shawn was President of the Disaster Relief Legal Aid Society and a part-time tutor in Evidence, Constitutional Law, and Civil Procedure. He interned with the "Sixty Plus" Elder Law Clinic, where he provided legal services to elderly citizens on fixed incomes. Shawn also served as a legal extern for the Honorable Monica Benton and Honorable Kimberly Prochnau (retired) - judges in the King County Superior Court.

Since law school, Shawn has been working in non-profit affordable housing, where he has been featured in the news several times for his work. Shawn has developed projects ranging from a homeless shelter for seniors to apartments for students and working young adults.

A self-proclaimed "BLERD" (black nerd), Shawn devotes his spare time to reading, annoying his two chihuahuas, and watching anything space-related (especially Star Trek!).
