
Going to Richmondville Town Court? Here’s what you need to know.
The City Court in Richmondville, New York is where you can:
- Contest vehicles and traffic matters
- Appear in small claims court
- Take action against or respond to action from your landlord
- Attend court in response to misdemeanor criminal offenses (disorderly conduct, possession of controlled substance in sevent degree, (DWI) Driving While Intoxicated, etc.)
- Appear in small claims and file a small claim case or counterclaim for up to $3000
When to show up:
- Civil, small claims, and evictions are at 9:00 a.m.
- Traffic: is closed for the moment until District attorney is back in office due to the coronavirus. Once opened, they will mail out letters with your court day.
- Criminal calendar is at 10:00 a.m.
Important tips:
- All non-essential appearances have been posptoned at Richmondville Town Court until August or September. Once they resume they will send you court date.
- Call New York State Unified Court System Coronavirus Hotline at 833-503-0447 to see if your cases has been postponed or if it’s an essential matter. Essential court cases may be conducted virtually during the Covid-19 crisis.
- You will pass through a metal detector upon entry.
- When open the public will be prohibited from sitting on court chairs to prevent the spread of the coronavirus until further notice.
- When open individuals will enter only one at a time.
- Richmondville will NOT hold court for Vehicle & Traffic or Penal Law due to COVID-19 until the District Attorney’s Office opens.
- Parking is free.
- You will need to pay fees associated with your appearance.
